Question

In the given figure, AB is parallel to CD. What is the value (in degrees) of x?

A.

90

B.

100

C.

110

D.

120

Correct option is D

Given:

AB ∥ CD

∠A = 120°

∠C = 120°

Find x°

Concept Used:

Supplementary angles on a straight line

Parallel line angle property

Formula Used:
Adjacent angles on a straight line = 180°

Solution:

At A:
Angle between AE and AB = 120°

So, the inner acute angle = 180° − 120° = 60°

Similarly at C:
Inner acute angle = 180° − 120° = 60°

Now angle x at E is formed by these two 60° angles:

x = 60° + 60° = 120°

Therefore,

x = 120°
