Question

If the surface area of a sphere is 212447 cm22124\frac 47 \ cm^2, then what is the radius of that sphere? [Use π = 22/7 ]

A.

14 cm

B.

12 cm

C.

11 cm

D.

13 cm

Correct option is D

Given:

Area of sphere = 212447\frac{4}{7} cm2 = 148727\frac{14872}{7}

Formula used:

Surface Area of Sphere A = 4π4\pir2

r = radius

π\pi = 227\frac{22}{7}

Solution :

Using the surface area formula ;

A =4π4\pir2

Substituting the values;

4×\times 227\frac{22}{7}×\times r2 = 148727\frac{14872}{7}

r2 = 148727×74×22\frac{14872}{7} \times \frac{7}{4 \times 22}

r2 = 1487288\frac{14872}{88} = 169

r = 169\sqrt{169}

r = 13

The radius of the sphere r = 13 cm
