If (m + n) : (m – n) = 7 : 3, then (m3+n3):(m3−n3)(\text{m}^3+\text{n}^3) : (\text{m}^3-\text{n}^3)(m3+n3):(m3−n3) = ?
Question

If (m + n) : (m – n) = 7 : 3, then (m3+n3):(m3n3)(\text{m}^3+\text{n}^3) : (\text{m}^3-\text{n}^3) = ?

A.

117 : 133

B.

133 : 117

C.

17 : 133

D.

117 : 13

Correct option is B

Given:
The ratio (m + n) : (m - n) = 7 : 3
Concept Used:
Ratios and Proportions:
If ab=cd\frac{a}{b} = \frac{c}{d}, then by Componendo and Dividendo, we have a+bab=c+dcd \frac{a + b}{a - b} = \frac{c + d}{c - d}

Solution:

m+nmn=73\frac{m + n}{m - n} = \frac{7}{3}

(m+n)+(mn)(m+n)(mn)=7+373\frac{(m + n) + (m - n)}{(m + n) - (m - n)} = \frac{7 + 3}{7 - 3}

2m2n=104\frac{2m}{2n} = \frac{10}{4}

mn=52\frac{m}{n} = \frac{5}{2}
Let m = 5k and n = 2k (where k is a constant).
Using m = 5k and n = 2k:
m3+n3=(5k)3+(2k)3=125k3+8k3=133k3m^3 + n^3 = (5k)^3 + (2k)^3 = 125k^3 + 8k^3 = 133k^3
m3n3=(5k)3(2k)3=125k38k3=117k3m^3 - n^3 = (5k)^3 - (2k)^3 = 125k^3 - 8k^3 = 117k^3
m3+n3m3n3=133k3117k3=133117\frac{m^3 + n^3}{m^3 - n^3} = \frac{133k^3}{117k^3} = \frac{133}{117}
