Question

If A’s salary is 50% more than that of B, then by what percentage is B's salary less than that of A?

A.

23 1/3%

B.

13 1/3%

C.

33 1/3%

D.

30 1/3%

Correct option is C

Given:

A’s salary is 50% more than that of B

Formula used:

Percentage Increment=New ValueOriginal ValueOriginal Value×100\text{Percentage Increment} = \frac{\text{New Value} - \text{Original Value}}{\text{Original Value}} \times 100

Solution:

let salary of B=100

so salary of A= 100 +50% of B salary

=100+50%0f 100

                    =150

B salary percentage to A salary = BsalaryAsalary×100\frac{B salary}{A salary }\times 100

                                                   =100150×100\frac{100}{150}\times100

                                                    =66.66%

so, B salary less than A salary =100% -66.66%

                                                =33.33% =331333\frac{1}{3}%
