If A's income is 60% less than that of B, then by what percentage is B's income more than that of A?
Question

If A's income is 60% less than that of B, then by what percentage is B's income more than that of A?

A.

100%

B.

150%

C.

175%

D.

125%

Correct option is B

Given:

A's income is 60% less than that of B.

Solution:

Let B's income be ₹100 .

Since A's income is 60% less than B's income, A's income is:

₹100 - (60% of ₹100) = ₹100 - ₹60 = ₹40

₹100 (B's income) - ₹40 (A's income) = ₹60

Percentage increase =(Difference in incomeA’s income)×\left( \frac{\text{Difference in income}}{\text{A's income}} \right) \times 100

Percentage increase =6040× \frac{₹60 }{ ₹40}\times 100

Percentage increase = 150%

B's income is 150% more than that of A.

Alternate Solution:
Let B's income be 10 unit
A's income = 10 - 60% of 10 = 4 unit

Required Percentage = 64×100=150%\frac{6}{4} \times 100 = 150\%
