Question

If 15\frac{1}{5} of a number multiplied by 23\frac{2}{3} of the same number gives 480, then the number is:

A.

80

B.

60

C.

100

D.

70

Correct option is B

Given:

 15\frac{1}{5} of a number ×\times 23\tfrac{2}{3} of the same number = 480.

Solution:

Let a number = x

Then,

x×15×x×23=480x \times \frac{1}{5}\times x \times \frac{2}{3} = 480

2×x215=480\frac{2\times x^2}{15} = 480

x2=15×4802x^2 = \frac{15 \times 480}{2}

x2=15×240x^2 = 15 \times 240

x2=3600x^2 = 3600

x=3600x = \sqrt{3600}

x = 60

So, the number is 60.

Thus, the correct answer is option(b).
