IB ACIO has a two-tier written exam.
Tier I is objective and scored as:
 Correct answers × 1 mark − Wrong answers × 0.25 mark
There are 100 questions for 100 marks.
Tier II is descriptive and carries 50 marks:

30 marks for essay writing

20 marks for précis or comprehension
There is no negative marking in Tier II.
Final selection also considers the interview (Tier III). Marks from Tier I and II are added for shortlisting candidates for interview, and then a final merit list is prepared.
