Let the salary be x

Money spent on house rent = 15% of x = 0.15x

Money left = x-0.15x = 0.85x

Money spent on children’s education = 20% of 0.85x = 0.17x

Remaining amount = 0.85x -0.17x = 0.68x

Money spent on medical expenses = 10% of 0.68x = 0.068x

Remaining amount = 0.68x - 0.068x = 0.612x

But 0.612x is the savings = ₹42840
