Find the perimeter of a rhombus whose diagonals are of lengths 5 cm and 12 cm.
Question

Find the perimeter of a rhombus whose diagonals are of lengths 5 cm and 12 cm.

A.

20 cm

B.

26 cm

C.

24 cm

D.

25 cm

Correct option is B

Given:

Diagonal 1 ( d1) = 5 cm
Diagonal 2 (d2) = 12 cm

Formula used:

Perimeter of rhombus :
Perimeter = 4 ×\times sides of the rhombus

Solution:

Now, the Pythagorean theorem to find the length of the side of the rhombus:

s2=(d12)2+(d22)2s^2 = \left(\frac{d_1}2\right)^2 + \left(\frac{d_2}2\right)^2

s2= (2.5)2 +  (6)2

s2 = 6.25 + 36
s =  42.25\sqrt{42.25}

s = 6.5 cm

then, The perimeter of rhombus:

×\times s = 4 ×\times 6.5 = 26 cm
