Question

Consider two numbers whose LCM + HCF = 504, and LCM - HCF = 456. If one of these two numbers is 96 , find the other number.

A.

100

B.

126

C.

120

D.

130

Correct option is C

Given:

LCM + HCF = 504

LCM - HCF = 456

One of the numbers = 96

Formula Used:

HCF× \times LCM = Product of two numbers

Solution:

LCM + HCF = 504

LCM - HCF = 456

Solving we get LCM = 480 and HCF = 24

480 ×\times 24 = 96 ×\times x

x =480×2496 \frac{480 \times 24}{ 96} = 120

The other number is 120
