    Question

    A sum, when invested at 10% simple interest per annum, amounts to Rs. 2880 after 2 years. What is the simple interest (in Rs.) on the same sum at the same rate of interest in 2 years?

    A.

    960

    B.

    240

    C.

    480

    D.

    1920

    Correct option is C

    Given:

    Final Amount (A) after 2 years = ₹2880
    Time (T) = 2 years
    Rate of Interest (R) = 10% per annum
    Formula Used:
    Simple Interest (SI) = P×R×T100\frac {P × R × T}{ 100}
    Amount = Principal + S.I
    Solution:
    Amount = Principal + S.I
    2880 =P+(P×10×2100) P + \left( \frac{P \times 10 \times 2}{100} \right)
    2880 = P + P5\frac{P}{5}
    2880 = 6P5\frac{6P}{5}
    P = 2400
    Simple Interest on same sum = 2400×10×2100=480\frac{2400 × 10 × 2}{100} = ₹480
