Question

A right triangle with sides 60 cm, 45 cm and 75 cm is rotated about the side of 60 cm to form a cone. The curved surface area (in cm²) of the cone so formed is:

A.

4505π

B.

3375π

C.

3125π

D.

4500π

Correct option is B

Given:

The sides of the right triangle are 60 cm,45 cm,75 cm

The triangle is rotated about the side of 60 cm to form a cone

Formula Used:

Curved Surface Area (CSA) of the cone = πrl

where r is the radius of the base, and l is the slant height of the cone.

Solution:

The radius of the base r is the other side of the triangle, which is 45 cm

The slant height l is the hypotenuse of the triangle, which is 75 cm

Thus, the curved surface area of cone  = π × 45 × 75 = 3375π cm2
