A person mixed milk and water in two containers in the ratio 3 : 4 and 5 : 6 respectively then he mixed both the mixture in the third container and the ratio of milk and water in the resultant mixture becomes 4 : 5. Total quantity of mixtures is 18 liters. Find the quantity(in liters) of milk in the 1st container.

Correct option is B

Let the quantity of milk & water in first container be 3x & 4x respectively
& The quantity of milk & water in second container be 5y & 6y respectively
The quantity of milk in third container = 4/9×18=8 litres
The quantity of water in third container = 18 – 8 = 10 liters
ATQ,
3x+5y= 8 ………..(I)
4x+6y = 10 ………(II)
From (I)&(II)
x=1, y=1
Required quantity = 3x = 3 liters
