    Question

A dealer sells his goods at 22% loss on cost price but uses 44% less weight. What is his percentage profit or loss?

    A.

    3927\frac 27 %

    B.

    3957\frac57 %

    C.

    3937 \frac37 %

    D.

    3947 \frac47 %

    Correct option is A

    Given:

Loss on cost price = 22%

    Weight used = 44% less

    Formula Used:

Effective Selling Price per unit = Cost Price per unit

    Profit % = Effective SPCPCP×100\frac{\text{Effective SP} - \text{CP}}{\text{CP}} \times 100

    Solution:

Assume CP for 1 kg = Rs. 100

    SP at 22% loss = Rs. 78

But he gives only 56% weight => 0.56 kg

    SP per kg = 78×10056=9757 \frac{78\times 100}{56} = \frac{975}7

    Profit = 9757100=2757 \frac{975}7 - 100 = \frac{275}7

    Profit % = 275/7100×100=3927% \frac{275/7}{100} \times 100 = 39\frac{2}7\%
