Question

A dealer buys 200 quintals of wheat at Rs.1,200 per quintal. He spends Rs.10,000 on transportation and storage. If he sells the wheat at Rs.13 per kg, then the profit percentage of the dealer is:

A.

3%

B.

1%

C.

2%

D.

4%

Correct option is D

Given:

Cost price (CP) of wheat per quintal = Rs.1200

Quantity of wheat = 200 quintals

Total transportation and storage cost = Rs.10000

Selling price (SP) of wheat per kg = Rs.13

Formula Used:

Profit %=(ProfitTotal Cost Price)×100\text{Profit \%} = \left( \frac{\text{Profit}}{\text{Total Cost Price}} \right) \times 100

Solution:

CP = (1200 ×\times 200) + 10000 = Rs. 250000

SP = 13 ×\times (200 ×\times 100) = Rs. 260000

Profit = 260000 - 250000 = 10000

Profit %=(10000250000)×100\text{Profit \%} = \left( \frac{\text{10000}}{\text{250000}} \right) \times 100 = 4%
