Question

A bus starts from rest with the acceleration of 0.5 m/s2m/s^2. if it has moved through 100 m , then its speed will be.

A.

10 kmph

B.

100 m/s

C.

36 m/s

D.

36 kmph

Correct option is D

We use the kinematic equation of motion:
v2=u2+2asv^2=u^2+2as
where,
· u = 0 m/s (initial speed, since the bus starts from rest)
· a = 0.5 m/s2m/s^2 (acceleration)
· s = 100 m (displacement)
· v = ? (final speed)
Substituting the values:
v2=0+2×(0.5)×100v^2 = 0 + 2 × (0.5) × 100
v2=1×100=100v^2 = 1 × 100 = 100
v = √100 = 10 m/s
Now, converting v = 10 m/s to kmph: 10 × 3.6 = 36kmph
