யூனியன் பப்ளிக் சர்வீஸ் கமிஷனின் பிரதான செயல்பாடுகள் பின்வருமாறு:

1. ஒன்றியத்தின் சேவைகளுக்கு நியமனம் செய்வதற்கான தேர்வுகளை நடத்துதல் மற்றும்/ அல்லது நேர்காணல் மூலம் நேரடியாக ஆட்சேர்ப்பு செய்தல்.

2.பல்வேறு சேவைகள் மற்றும் பதவிகளின் ஆட்சேர்ப்பு தொடர்பான விதிகளை உருவாக்குதல் மற்றும் திருத்துதல்.

3. வெவ்வேறு சிவில் சேவைகள் தொடர்பான ஒழுங்குமுறை வழக்குகள்.

4. இந்தியக் குடியரசுத் தலைவரால் ஆணையத்திற்குப் பரிந்துரைக்கப்படும் எந்தவொரு விஷயத்திலும் அரசாங்கத்திற்கு ஆலோசனை வழங்குதல்.
