SBI PO Exam Pattern 2019

State Bank of India will be conducting SBI PO 2019 Preliminary Exam on 8th, 9th, 15th & 16th June 2019. Prelims & Mains Exam dates has been finally released for SBI PO 2019. To score well in both these levels of examination, it is important for a candidate to be acquainted with the exam pattern of both prelims and mains examination along with the syllabus of the same. Descriptive Test:

The Descriptive Test has a duration of 30 minutes with a score of 50 marks. This test is conducted to test the writing skills of candidates via Letter Writing & Essay Writing.

Penalty for Wrong Answers:

The penalty for wrong answers Objective Tests of both Preliminary and Mains exams is 0.25 marks. There will be no penalty for leaving a question blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate.

Phase-3: Group Exercise & Interview

The aggregate marks of all the candidates clearing both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. The decided number of candidates in each category, as governed by the Bank will be called for Group Exercises and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Exercises & Interview will be as decided by the Bank. Group exercises account for 20 marks while Interview is for 30 marks.

Final Score Calculation for SBI PO Exam:

The final score for the SBI PO exam is calculated keeping the below points in mind:

  • Marks secured in the Preliminary Exam (Phase-1) will not be considered for selection
  • Candidates must qualify Phase-2 and Phase-3 separately to be eligible
  • Marks secured by the candidates in the Mains Exam (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. This makes the new total score (Mains + GD/PI) to be 100
  • The aggregate score out of 100 is used for the final merit list for each category. Candidates with top merit rank in each category are finally selected.

The SBI PO syllabus is no different from any other Bank Exam. There are three major sections on which a candidate needs complete command to scale high in the Preliminary round of SBI PO Exam. They are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. These three broad subjects are further sub divided into multiple subheadings. A candidate must look into the previous years’ papers to know the weightage of the sub-topics in each section. The SBI PO 2019 Exam is to be conducted in 3 phase: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and the Interview Process.

Apart from the preliminary exam and the mains exam, an interview process is also conducted for candidates who have qualified the first two phases of SBI PO 2019 exam.
