Question

Which two signs should be interchanged to make the given equation correct?
289 + 17 × 12 ÷ 216 − 300 = 120

A.

− and +

B.

÷ and −

C.

÷ and +

D.

+ and ×

Correct option is C

Concept: interchange mathematical operators and solve as per the BODMAS rule.
Given:
289 + 17 × 12 ÷ 216 − 300 = 120

option a − and +

289 - 17 × 12 ÷ 216 + 300 = 120

289 - 0.006 + 300 = 120

does not give 120 as output

option b  ÷ and −

289 + 17 × 12 - 216 ÷ 300 = 120

289 +  204 - 0.72 = 120

does not give 120 as output

option c , ÷ and +

289 ÷ 17 × 12 + 216 − 300 = 120
Or, 204 + 216 - 300 =120
Or, 420 - 300 =120
Or, 120 = 120
So, it's the correct option.

option d + and ×

289×  17 + 12 ÷ 216 − 300 = 120

4913 + 0.055 - 300 = 120

does not give 120 as output.

hence only option c gives correct answer,
