Question

Which two numbers should be interchanged to make the given equation correct?
186-82+(129÷3)-6 × 8 + (31-19)× 2 = 85
(Note: Interchange should be done of entire number and not individual digits of a given number.)

A.

186 and 129

B.

8 and 19

C.

2 and 6

D.

82 and 31

Correct option is A

Given:
186-82+(129÷3)-6 × 8 + (31-19)× 2 = 85
From the given options -
(a) 186 and 129 after interchanging digit we get following equation -
129 - 82 + (186 ÷ 3) - 6 × 8 + (31 -19) × 2 = 85
129 - 82 + (62) - 6 × 8 + (12) × 2 = 85
129 - 82 + 62 - 48 + 24 = 85
215 - 130 = 85
85 = 85
Thus, the correct answer is (a)
