1. National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) was established under Article 338 of the Indian Constitution. It was created to investigate and monitor the matters related to the rights and welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs).

2. National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) was originally set up as a statutory body by the National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993. 

   Both bodies are tasked with investigating issues related to the welfare of specific communities(SCs and Backward Classes) and making recommendations to the government.​
   

• NCBC was made a constitutional body, and it now operates under Article 338B.
