Question

Which of the following pairs of numbers are co-prime?

A.

133,171

B.

65,91

C.

51,119

D.

59, 97

Correct option is D

Given:

Given pair are (133,171), (65,91), (51,119) , (59,97)

Formula Used:

The co-prime numbers area numbers which have no common factors other than 1

Solution:

For (133,171)

Factors of 133 and 171 are:

133 = 1×7×19 1 \times 7 \times 19

171 = 1×9×191 \times 9 \times 19

Here 19 is common factor other than 1 hence 133 and 171 are not co-prime numbers

For(65,91)

Factors of 65 and 91 are:

65 = 1×5×13 1 \times 5 \times 13

91 = 1×7×13 1 \times 7 \times 13

Here 13 is common factor other than 1 hence 65 and 91 are no co-prime numbers

For (51,119)

Factors of 51 and 119 are:

51 = 1×3×171 \times 3 \times 17

119 =1×7×17 1 \times 7 \times 17

Here 17 is common factor other than 1 hence 51 and 119 are not co-prime numbers

For (59,97)

Factors of 59 and 97 are:

59 =1×59 1 \times 59

97 = 1×971 \times 97

Here only common factor is 1 hence 59 and 97 are co-prime numbers
