Question

Which of the following is NOT a type of power factor tariff?

A.

kVA Maximum demand tariff

B.

kW and kVAR tariff

C.

Sliding scale tariff

D.

Three part tariff

Correct option is D

Three-part tariff is not a type of power factor tariff:

Power factor tariff
A type of electricity tariff that considers the power factor of the consumer's load. Some types of power factor tariffs include:

kVA Maximum Demand Tariff: A modified two-part tariff where fixed charges are based on maximum demand in kVA. Consumers with low power factors pay more towards fixed charges.

Sliding Scale Tariff: Also known as the average power factor tariff, this tariff uses an average power factor as a reference. If the consumer's power factor is below the reference, they pay additional charges. If the power factor is above the reference, the consumer receives a discount.

kW and kVAR Tariff: This tariff charges both active power (kW) and reactive power (kVAR) separately. Consumers with low power factors draw more reactive power and pay more charges.

Three-part tariff
A tariff where the total charge is split into three parts. It's usually used for bulk supplies.
