Plastic limit:- The water content at which soil sample changes from semi-solid to plastic state is
called plastic limit and it is also defined as the water content at which soil would just begin to crumble when rolled into a thread of approximately 3 mm in diameter.
Shrinkage Limit:- A state comes when the decrease in water content results no change in volume of soil and consistence of soil changes from semi-solid to solid state. In other words, we can say that minimum value of water content at which soil mass is completely saturated is called shrinkage limit and below shrinkage limit soil is partially saturated.
Liquid Limit:- The water content at which soil sample changes from plastic state to liquid state called liquid limits. It generally corresponds to 25 number of blows in Casagrande's apparatus.
