What will be the diameter of a circle having area equal to that of a square of side 2.0 m?
    Question

What will be the diameter of a circle having area equal to that of a square of side 2.0 m?

    A.

    ~1.256 m

    B.

    ~2.257 m

    C.

    ~0.88 m

    D.

    ~2.718 m

    Correct option is B

    Given side of square = 2 m.
Area of circle = area of square
    Area of circle = π × r^2
where r = radius of the circle
    Area of square = a^2
where a = side of the square
Since the Area of the circle = area of the square, we can conclude:
    π × r^2 = 22
    r^2 = 4 × 7/22
    r = 1.2727 m
    The diameter of the circle = 2r = 2 × 1.2727 = 2.257 m
