Two concentric circles form a circular path. The inner and outer circumference of the path are 564756\frac{4}{7}5674 m and 942794\frac{2}{7
Question

Two concentric circles form a circular path. The inner and outer circumference of the path are 564756\frac{4}{7} m and 942794\frac{2}{7} m respectively. Find the width of the path.

A.

2 m

B.

6 m

C.

9 m

D.

3 m

Correct option is B

Given:

 Inner circumference =5647 m Outer circumference =9427 m\begin{aligned}& \text { Inner circumference }=56 \frac{4}{7} \mathrm{~m} \\& \text { Outer circumference }=94 \frac{2}{7} \mathrm{~m}\end{aligned}

Formula used:

Circumference of a circle = 2πr

Width of the path = Outer radius - Inner radius

Solution:

5647=56.57149427=94.2857\begin{aligned}& 56 \frac{4}{7}=56.5714 \\& 94 \frac{2}{7}=94.2857\end{aligned}

Inner radius (r1)

=> 2πr1= 56.5714

=> r156.5714(2π)\frac{56.5714}{(2π)}

=> r1 = 9

Outer radius (r2)

=> 2πr2= 94.2857

=> r294.2857(2π) \frac{94.2857}{(2π)}

=> r2 = 15

Width of the path

=> r2- r1= 15 - 9

=> Width = 6 m

Thus, the correct answer is (B).
