    Question

    Three numbers which are co-prime to each other are such that the product of the first two is 391 and that of the last two is 943. Find the middle number.

    A.

    17

    B.

    23

    C.

    41

    D.

    19

    Correct option is B

    Given:

    Product of first two = 391

    Product of last two = 943

    Formula Used:

    Co-prime numbers are number which have one as their common factor or their HCF is 1

    Solution:

    Let the three numbers are a,b and c

    Then a× \times b = 391

    And b × \times c = 943

    Both 391 and 943 has b number as common

    Hence HCF of 391 and 943 is middle number b

    391 = 17 × \times 23

    943 = 23× \times 41

    Hence b= 23

    The middle number is 23
