The sum of three consecutive numbers is 177. The mean of these three numbers is:

Solution:

Let the consecutive numbers be x, x + 1 and x+2

Then sum of numbers= x+(x+1)+(x+2) = 3x+3

3x + 3 = 177

3x = 174

x = 58

Numbers are 58,59 and 60

Mean = $$\frac{58+59+60}{3} =\frac{177}{3} = 59$$ 

Alternate Method: 

We know that sun of numbers = 177 

Total number =  3 

So, Mean = $$\frac{177}{3} = 59$$​​
