Question

The number of girls in a class is seven times the number of boys. Which of the following numbers CANNOT represent the total number of children in the class?

A.

8

B.

52

C.

72

D.

48

Correct option is B

Given:

The number of girls in a class is seven times the number of boys.

Solution:

Let,

The number of boys = xx

The number of girls = 7x7x

Now,

The total number of students in the class = x+7x=8xx+7x=8x

The total number of children in the class must be multiples of 8.

In the given options, Option B - 52 is not a multiple of 8.

Therefore, the correct option is (B).
