Question

The height of a cylinder whose radius is 7 cm and the total surface area is 968 cm² is:

A.

15 cm

B.

17 cm

C.

19 cm

D.

More than one of the above

E.

None of the above

Correct option is A

The total surface area (TSA) of a cylinder is given by:
TSA = 2πr(r + h)
Where, r is the radius of the base, h is the height of the cylinder
Given, Radius (r) = 7 cm and Total Surface Area (TSA) = 968 cm²
968 = 2 x π x 7 x (7 + h)
Divide both sides of the equation by 14π: (968 / 14π) = 7 + h
Simplify: (968 / 44) = 7 + h
22 = 7 + h
Subtract 7 from both sides:
h = 15 cm
Therefore, the height of the cylinder is 15 cm.
