Question

The HCF of two numbers is 15 and their LCM is 225. If one of the numbers is 45, then what is the other number?

A.

15×45225\tfrac{15×45}{225}

B.

22545\tfrac{225}{45}

C.

22515

D.

15×22545\tfrac{15×225}{45}

Correct option is D

Given:

HCF (Highest Common Factor) of two numbers: 15

LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) of two numbers: 225

One of the numbers: 45

Formula used:

HCF × LCM = Product of the two numbers

Solution:

Let the number be = a and b

ab = 15 ×\times 225

45b = 15 ×\times 225

b = 15×22545\frac{15 \times 225}{45} or 75

The other number is 15×22545\frac{15 \times 225}{45}
