Question

The graph and table below show the scores obtained by three individuals, A, B, and C, in three exams - Test 1, Test 2, and Test 3. Study the graph and table, and answer the question asked.

(Reference - Test = Exam)
If the maximum marks for both Exam 1 and Exam 2 are 80, and the maximum marks for Exam 3 are 100, then considering the performance in all three exams, how many percent more marks did A score compared to C?

A.

5.56%

B.

6.92%

C.

8.2%

D.

7.69%

Correct option is D

Given:

Scores from table:
- A's Scores: Test 1 = 45, Test 2 = 50, Test 3 = 75
- C's Scores: Test 1 = 40, Test 2 = 45, Test 3 = 65
Maximum marks:
- Test 1 and Test 2 = 80 each
- Test 3 = 100

Formula Used:

Total Marks = Sum of scores from all tests
Percentage=Total ScoreMaximum Marks×100Percentage = \frac{\text{Total Score}}{\text{Maximum Marks}} \times 100

PercentageDifference=Percentage of APercentage of CPercentage Difference = \text{Percentage of A} - \text{Percentage of C}

Solution:

1. Calculate Total Scores for A and C:

- A's total score = 45 + 50 + 75 = 170

- C's total score = 40 + 45 + 65 = 150

2. Calculate Maximum Marks:

Total maximum marks = 80 + 80 + 100 = 260

3. Calculate Percentage Scores for A and C:

AsPercentage=170260×10065.38%- A's Percentage = \frac{170}{260} \times 100 \approx 65.38\%

4. Calculate the Percentage Difference:

CsPercentage=150260×10057.69%- C's Percentage = \frac{150}{260} \times 100 \approx 57.69\%

Percentage difference = 65.38% - 57.69% = 7.69%

Answer: A scored approximately 7.69% more marks compared to C in all three exams.
