Question

The given graph shows the percentage-wise distribution of different mobile phone models (A to F) produced by a mobile company in 2008 and 2009. The total number of mobile phones produced in 2008 was 4,50,000 and that in 2009 was 6,40,000.

(If a value for any model in between a range, consider it to be at midpoint, e.g any point between 10 and 20 should be considered 15.)

What is the difference between the numbers of Model B sets produced in 2008 and 2009?

A.

1,21,000

B.

60,500

C.

65,000

D.

22,000

Correct option is B

Given:

The total number of mobile phones produced in 2008 = 4,50,000

The total number of mobile phones produced in 2009 = 6,40,000

Solution:

Percentage of Model B sets produced in 2008 = 15%

Number of Model B in 2008= 15%×4,50,000=15100×4,50,000=67,50015\% \times 4,50,000 = \frac{15}{100} \times 4,50,000 = 67,500

Percentage of Model B sets produced in 2009 = 20%

Number of Model B in 2009 =20%×6,40,000=20100×6,40,000=1,28,000 20\% \times 6,40,000 = \frac{20}{100} \times 6,40,000 = 1,28,000

Difference between the number of Model B sets produced in 2008 and 2009 = 1,28,000 - 67,500 = 60,500
