Question

The given bar graph shows the turnover of five companies (in crores).

What is the difference between the average sales turnover of all the companies put together between the years 2018-2019and 2019-2020?

A.

₹5 crore

B.

₹2 crore

C.

₹6.5 crore

D.

₹3.5 crore

Correct option is A

Given:

2017-18:

HDFC = 250

GM = 300

HERO = 350

LG = 275

BPL = 300

2018-19:

HDFC = 300

GM = 250

HERO = 300

LG = 200

BPL = 400

2019-20:

HDFC = 250

GM = 250

HERO = 250

LG = 300

BPL = 350

Formula Used:

Average turnover = Total turnoverNumber of companies\frac{\text{Total turnover}}{\text{Number of companies}}

Solution:

2018-19:

Total turnover for 2018-19=250+350+275+200+400=1475

14755\frac{1475}{5} = 295

For 2019-20:

Total turnover for 2019-20=300+250+300+300+350=1500

15005\frac{1500}{5} = 300

Difference in average turnover:

Difference=300−295=5

The difference between the average sales turnover of all companies between the years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 is 5 crores.
