    Question

The diameter of a cylinder is 14 cm and its height is 9 cm. Find the total surface area of the cylinder.

    A.

    708 cm²

    B.

    714 cm²

    C.

    704 cm²

    D.

    700 cm²

    Correct option is C

    Given:
Diameter of the cylinder = 14 cm
Height of the cylinder = 9 cm
    π = 227\frac{22}{7}
    Formula used:
    Total surface area of a cylinder = 2πr(r + h)
    Solution :
    Total surface area = 2πr(r + h)
    = 2 ×227×\times \frac{22}{7} \times 7(7 + 9)
    = 44 ×\times 16
    = 704 cm²
