Question

Select the set in which the numbers are related in the same way as are the numbers of the following sets.
(NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into its constituent digits. E.g. 13 – Operations on 13 such as adding / subtracting / multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is not allowed)
(20, 16, 8)
(13, 20, 23)

A.

(14, 18, 16)

B.

(32, 27, 18)

C.

(13, 16, 13)

D.

(19, 18, 21)

Correct option is B

Given:
(20, 16, 8)
(13, 20, 23)
Logic: (1st + 3rd) ÷\div 2 = 2nd number
As,
(20, 16, 8) = (20 + 8)÷ 2 + 2 = 28 ÷ 2 + 2= 14 + 2 = 16
 and
(13, 20, 23) = (13 + 23) ÷2 + 2 = 36 ÷ 2 + 2 = 18 + 2 = 2
Now, check options:
(a) (14, 18, 16)
(14 + 16) ÷2 + 2 = 30 ÷2 + 2 = 15 + 2 = 17 \neq 18
So, its not correct.
(b) (32, 27, 18)
(32+ 18)÷2 +2 = 50÷2 +2= 25+ 2= 27 =27
So, its correct.
(c) (13, 16, 13)
(13 + 13)÷2+2 = 26÷2+2 = 13 + 2 = 15\neq16
So, its not correct.
(d) (19, 18, 21)
(19+ 21)÷2 +2 = 40 ÷ 2 + 2 = 20 +2 = 22
So, its not correct.
Thus, correct option is (b).
