Question

Mohan sold 153 chairs and had a gain equal to the selling price of 68 chairs. What is his profit percentage?

A.

80%

B.

90%

C.

85%

D.

75%

Correct option is A

Given:

Number of chairs sold = 153

Gain = Selling Price (S.P.) of 68 chairs

Formula Used:

Profit % = (GainC.P.)×100\left( \frac{\text{Gain}}{\text{C.P.}} \right) \times 100

Solution:

Let the S.P. of 1 chair = Rs. 1

Then:

Total S.P. = 153 × 1 = Rs.153

Gain = Rs. 68

C.P. = S.P. – Gain = Rs. 153 – 68 = Rs. 85

Profit % = 6885×100=80%\frac{68}{85} \times 100 = 80\%
