On 29 May 2023, Praveen Kumar Srivastava was appointed as the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) of India.
The oath of office was administered by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, with the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Srivastava, a 1988-batch IAS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, had been serving as the acting CVC since December 2022, following the completion of Suresh N Patel's tenure.
Prior to this role, he held significant positions, including Secretary (Coordination) in the Cabinet Secretariat, Chief Vigilance Officer in RITES Ltd, and Joint Secretary and Mission Director for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
His appointment was made by the President of India on the recommendation of a three-member selection panel comprising the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
