Question

In a certain code language, ‘CITY’ is coded as 228 and ‘CRY’ is coded as 138. How will ‘BOLD’ be coded in the same language?

A.

125

B.

123

C.

99

D.

132

Correct option is D

Given:
CITY → 228
CRY → 138
BOLD → ?
Logic:  (Sum of place values) × (Number of letters)
Check for CITY:
Sum = 3 + 9 + 20 + 25 = 57
Number of letters = 4
→ 57 × 4 = 228
Check for CRY:
Sum = 3 + 18 + 25 = 46
Number of letters = 3
→ 46 × 3 = 138
Now for BOLD:
Sum = 2 + 15 + 12 + 4 = 33
Number of letters = 4
→ 33 × 4 = 132
Thus, correct option is (d).
