Question

If, on a marked price, the difference between selling prices with a discount of 65% and with two successive discounts of 30% and 40% is Rs. 105, then the marked price (in Rs. ) is:

A.

1,650

B.

1,050

C.

1,500

D.

1,320

Correct option is C

Given:

Normal discount =65%

Two successive discount =30% and 40%

Difference in amount between normal discount and successive discount =Rs 105

Formula Used:

Successive Discount =D1+D2D1D2100 D_{1}+D_{2} - \frac{D_{1}D_{2}}{100}

SP=MP(100D)100SP = MP \frac{(100-D)}{100}

Solution:

Substituting the values in the formulas we get:

Successive Discount =30+40(30)(40)100 30+40 - \frac{(30)(40)}{100}

= 70-12

= 58%

Normal Discount =65%

Difference in Discount% = Difference in Discount Amount

(65-58)% = 105

7% =105

1% =1057 \frac{105}{7} = 15

100% =1500

The Marked Price is Rs 1,500
