Question

If 2 is added to each even digit and 2 is added to each odd digit in the number 7362145, what will be the sum of all the odd digits in the new number thus formed?

A.

28

B.

26

C.

24

D.

20

Correct option is C

Original number: 7 3 6 2 1 4 5
Digits: 7 (odd), 3 (odd), 6 (even), 2 (even), 1 (odd), 4 (even), 5 (odd)
Add 2 to each digit:
Odd digits (7, 3, 1, 5): 7 + 2 = 9, 3 + 2 = 5, 1 + 2 = 3, 5 + 2 = 7
Even digits (6, 2, 4): 6 + 2 = 8, 2 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 2=6
New number: 9 5 8 4 3 6 7
Sum of odd digits →  9 + 5 + 3 + 7 = 24
Thus, the correct option is (c).
