Question

If 1 is added to each odd digit and 2 is subtracted from each even digit in the number 5673128, what will be the difference between the digits which are third from the left and second from the right in the new number thus formed?

A.

9

B.

6

C.

7

D.

8

Correct option is D

Given: 5673128
Add 1 to each odd digit and subtract 2 from each even digit.
5 + 1 → 6
6 - 2 → 4
7 + 1 → 8
3 + 1 → 4
1 + 1 → 2
2 - 2 → 0
8 - 2 → 6
New number = 6484206
3rd from left = 8
2nd from right = 0
Difference = 8 − 0 = 8
So, 8 will be the difference between the digits which are third from the left and second from the right in the new number thus formed.
Thus, correct option is (d).
