Find the smallest natural number which must be subtracted from 2430 to get a perfect square.
Question

Find the smallest natural number which must be subtracted from 2430 to get a perfect square.

A.

25

B.

29

C.

36

D.

26

Correct option is B

Given:

Smallest natural number to be subtracted from 2430 to get perfect square

Solution:

Long division method:

So the number should be 2401 which is 49249^2

The smallest number to be subtracted from 3430 - 29 = 2401

Alternative Method:

2430 is near to the sqaure of 50 which is 2500

Then checking the squares of numbers lower than 50

(48)2(48)^2 = 2304

(49)2(49)^2 = 2401

Hence 2401 is closer to 2430 and 29 should be subtracted from 2430 to get 2401
