Question

Dinesh purchases 12 dozens of apples at the rate of Rs. 300 per dozen. He sells each apple at the rate of Rs. 30. What is the profit of Dinesh?

A.

25 percent

B.

15 percent

C.

10 percent

D.

20 percent

Correct option is D

Given:
Cost of 12 dozens of apples at Rs. 300 per dozen.
Selling price per apple = Rs. 30.
Formula Used:
Total Cost Price (CP) = Cost per dozen × number of dozens
Total Selling Price (SP) = Selling price per apple × total number of apples
Profit Percentage = SPCPCP×100\frac{SP - CP}{CP }\times100

Solution:
Total number of apples = 12 × 12 = 144.
Total CP = 300 × 12 = 3600.
Total SP = 30 × 144 = 4320.
Profit Percentage = 7203600×100\frac{720}{3600} \times 100 = 20%
Thus, the profit percentage of Dinesh is 20%.
