Question

Consider the V-I graphs for wires of material A and material B as described below:
Material A: It is a straight line passing through origin and is inclined at 20 to the current I axis.
Material B: It is a straight line passing through origin and is inclined at 60 to the current I axis. Which of the following options is correct?

A.

Neither A nor B follow Ohm's law.

B.

B follows Ohm's law but A does not.

C.

Both A and B follow Ohm's law.

D.

A follows Ohms' law but B does not.

Correct option is C

Correct Option : (C)  Both A and B follow Ohm's law.
Key Points:
The V-I graph relates voltage (V) and current ( I ) for a material.
 The slope of the  V - I  graph gives the resistance of the material:
 The angles given are:
Material A:
Material B:

θ\theta2020^\circθ\thetaB = 6060^\circ
Formula used :
R = slope of the graph =tan(θ)\text{slope of the graph } = \tan(\theta)
Calculation of Resistance:
For Material A :
RA=tan(20)0.364R_A = \tan(20^\circ) \approx 0.364
For Material B :
RB=tan(60)=31.732R_B = \tan(60^\circ) = \sqrt{3}\approx 1.732

Conclusion:
Material B has a higher resistance than Material A, as RB > RA .
The graph for Material B is steeper than that of Material A, indicating greater resistance.
