There are two types of soil horizons: organic and mineral
Organic- marked with letter O. Lie above the mineral horizons. They are formd from plant and animal matter.
Four main mineral horizon:
A Horizon- enriched with organic matter
E Horizon- clay particles and aluminium and iron oxides are removed from E horizon by downward percolating.
B Horizon- receives clay particles, aluminium, iron oxides and organic matter washed down from A and E horizons.
C Horizon- consists of parent mineral matter of the soil.
