Coal and Iron Ore collectively constituted over 92 per cent in terms of volume and 88 per cent in value terms of the total mineral production in Odisha in 2022-23. While iron ore alone accounted for 38.7 per cent of total mineral production in the State, it accounted for 62.1 per cent of total value of minerals in 2022-23 owing to high value nature of the commodity. On the other hand, coal has a share of 53.8 per cent in total quantity of mineral production and 26.2 per cent in value.
