Question

Arjun is seventeenth from the left end of a row of 29 boys and Rahul is seventeenth from the right end in the same row. How many boys are there between them in the row?

A.

4

B.

5

C.

3

D.

6

Correct option is C

Arjun's position from the left end is 17.
Rahul's position from the right end is 17, so his position from the left end is:
29 - 17 + 1 = 13.
Arjun at position 17 from the left.
Rahul at position 13 from the left.
The number of boys between them is the absolute difference between their positions, minus 1:
Number of boys between them = |17 - 13| - 1 = 4 - 1 = 3.
