    Question

A watch showed five past five on Wednesday evening when the correct time was 5:00 p.m. It loses uniformly, and was 5 minutes slow after two days at 7:00 p.m. When did the watch show the correct time ?

    A.

    Thursday 6:30 p.m.

    B.

    Thursday 6:00 p.m.

    C.

    Thursday 5:30 a.m.

    D.

    Thursday 5:00 a.m.

    Correct option is B

    Given:
A watch showed five past five on Wednesday evening when the correct time was 5:00 p.m.
It loses uniformly, and was 5 minutes slow after two days at 7:00 p.m.
    Logic:
    From 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to 5:00 p.m. Friday is 2 days (48 hours).
From 5:00 p.m. Friday to 7:00 p.m. Friday is an additional 2 hours.
    The total time difference between Wednesday 5: 00 pm to Friday 7:00 pm =  24 + 24 + 2 = 50 hrs.
    502=25\frac{50}{2} = 25 hr
Hence the right time will be 25 hours past 5:00 pm Wednesday.
    Wednesday 5:00 p.m. + 24 hours = Thursday 5:00 p.m.
    Plus 1 hour = Thursday 6:00 p.m.
So, the watch showed the correct time at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Thus, the correct answer is (b).
