Question

A shopkeeper purchased 59 dozens of articles at the rate of ₹728 per dozen. He sold each one of them at the rate of ₹91. What percentage profit did he make?

A.

50%

B.

52%

C.

48%

D.

49%

Correct option is A

Given:

Cost Price (CP) = ₹728 per dozen

Quantity = 59 dozens

Selling Price (SP) = ₹91 per article

Formula Used:

Total CP = Rate per dozen × Number of dozens

Total SP = Selling price per article × Total articles

Profit % = SPCPCP×100 \frac{SP - CP}{CP} \times 100

Solution:

Total articles = 59 × 12 = 708

Total CP = ₹728 × 59 = ₹42,952

Total SP = ₹91 × 708 = ₹64,428

Profit = ₹64,428 − ₹42,952 = ₹21,476

Profit % = 2147642952×100=50% \frac{21476}{42952} \times 100 = 50\%
